Several of the Management reports are generated offline. This means that the person who has the authority to run offline reports, generally the accountant, scheduled and generated the reports. Since the reports have already been run, and they have been stored on the server, DataTrak typically delivers offline reports much faster than reports that are generated in real-time. There are two main reasons for using offline reports:
Reason 1: Since certain reports include a tremendous amount of data or perform complex calculations, they can take a considerable amount of time to run. Generating the reports offline means that you can generate the report once and then store it so that other's can view it without having to re-generate it. Although it may take several minutes to generate an offline report, once the report is generated, it is available for viewing at any given time, with little or no wait time for the report to load.
Reason 2: Some reports such as P&L's are not complete or accurate until all data entry and processing for the month is complete. Once the P&L is complete, the data should not change on it, so there is no need to regenerate the report each time you want to view it.
